The Lowden O22 is George’s highly regarded Original series jumbo model. He developed the O-model 35 years ago and it was an instant classic. The guitar is equipped with a comfortable 45mm neck and easy playability on the comfortable low action neck. George and his team really know how to build great guitars. Pick up a Lowden O22 and you soon realise that it is a guitar of some considerable size. Most players are comfortable with this, but players with smaller bodies or who just prefer smaller shapes, might be best advised to look elsewhere in the Lowden range.
Of course, the plus side to that size is a considerable amount of power – but power that is beautifully well balanced. This is also an instrument that responds exceptionally well to what you put into it. Very responsive, in fact, and also very warm with very nice clarity. Detuning to various alternate tunings feels very stable and will produce a remarkably piano like sound with some chords.
